Sorry Folks, but the Double Bass situation in South Africa at the moment is quite shameful. There simply are not many instruments on the market. If you're looking out for something really good, I would suggest you contact the website www.contrabass.co.uk - based in London, it is one of the finest Double Bass websites in the world, offering some of the most outstanding instruments you could wish for. However,...

In the listing below, the following apply:

  • Instruments are listed with the best on offer appearing first, followed downwards by a systematic gradation of quality.
  • This listing is not exhaustive and does not necessarily contain all the instruments that I have available. It is always a good idea to contact me directly to find out what other instruments I might have on hand.
  • Wherever indicated, pictures of the instruments can be viewed. Where thumbnail photos are presented, these can be enlarged by clicking on the photo you want to see.

This ¾ size instrument appears to have been used extensively for light music purposes, but is well-toned and speaks easily.

It is a four string bass, made entirely of laminated wood, with a very attractive veneer of what appears to be light coloured maple on the back and sides and of a matching wood on the top. An attractive matching darker trimming is traced around the edges, making this a visually appealing instrument. It is in very good condition, but will benefit from a fresh setup, new strings and some attention to details.

Price: R16 000
