This cello was especially imported in 2007 for Chris van Zyl, the young Free State cellist from Bloemfontein who at that time was too small for a full-size instrument. For a few years this served as the instrument on which he developed his skills until he eventually graduated to full-size instrument.
This is truly a superb child instrument from every point of view - both in its structure as in its tonal properties. After Chris, this cello was sold to family in Pretoria where it served another talented child (Arjen van Renssen), whereafter it changed hands again and was used by the young Christof Joubert until he upgraded to a full-size instrument through this dealership. It is now back with where it came from and is waiting for its next young player. It may be noted that this cello allowed these young musicians to develop in a fine way and in each case was a superb stepping stone to a full-size instrument.
It is well-toned and is a rewarding instrument to play on - something not easily achieved in some of the cheaper child instruments currently on offer in this country.
It is currently fitted with Larsen strings and is sold with a molded case. A bow could be supplied.
