Max Wunderlich was born in Erlbach, Bavaria in 1893 and spent his life there until his death in 1968. He apprenticed under H.R. Pretzschner. Some 13 Wunderlichs are listed in authoritative publications and one can assume that he was a part of that extended family of violin and bow makers. This violin bow is a testimony of this maker's superb skill as bow maker.
This bow is equal to any demand made on it. It is well balanced and articulates well and certainly belongs and should be in the violin case of a professional or very advanced student.

Condition :

Excellent. Recently fitted with new tip slide, lapping and thumbpad. The frog's chin on the player's side is slightly modified, probably for the preference of a previous owner. Two minor cracks in the adjustor area have been repaired and are stable. A repaired minor sheer is evident in the middle of the bow. It can be said confidently that all repairs are secure and pose no threat to the structurally integrity of the bow.
