The very reputable violin dealership of Music Peyer in Cape Town existed for several decades and served the South African violin community very well until its demise around 2020. This dealership imported violins from China, set them up and labelled them with their own business label. These instruments were always well chosen, well made and well toned. This violin is dated 2016 and is nicely made throughout of good materials and varnished in an attractive dark reddish brown with areas shaded to a light golden brown over a yellow ground. The varnish is of high transparency, allowing for good observation of the wood.

Materials chosen for this violin are of a superior quality which indicates that the objective was a violin of higher level intended for serious performance of a solo nature. The two-piece back, ribs, neck and scroll are of nicely figured European maple with an attractive flame of medium to narrow curl - all matching and probably from the same piece of wood. The top is of good quality tone spruce with a very straight and even medium grain. Workmanship throughout this violin is refined, showing high standards and attention to detail.

This violin is unusually well-toned and responsive and sets itself aside as suitable for solo work. It responds easily with a robust and focused tone. It is a good violin by all standards.
