1. I will place your instrument on this website free of charge for as long as it requires to sell it, or until you decide to have it removed.
  2. Potential buyers contact me directly. All deals between buyers and sellers are negotiated directly throught me, Johan Grobbelaar, who act as go-between.
  3. Understandably no-one will buy an instrument without first having tried it for a period of time. The procedure for each purchase will depend on the respective locations of both the buyer and the instrument, hence each situation is dealt with according to its own circumstances.
  4. The seller either gets paid a predermined guaranteed amount, irrespective of the eventual sale price, or alternatively, I take commission on concluded sales.
  5. Note (importantly): Instruments are priced and offered for sale at what is reasonably and fairly considered to be the actual value of the instrument, relative to South African and international trends. Commission is NOT to be added onto the actual estimated value of the instrument, which means that ALL COMMISSION IS TO BE PAID BY THE SELLER. The purpose of this is to keep prices realistic and affordable for potential buyers.
  6. I reserve the right to refuse persuing or concluding a sale, should I be in disagreement over procedures or about the value of the instrument.
  7. As much as I respect the views of other dealers, or may take into consideration other persons' evaluations, certificates, opinions and assesments of the value of instruments, I will only accept as final assessment my own evaluation of an instrument.
  8. Prices are quoted in either South African Rand (SAR), US Dollars ($), or British Pounds (£). South African equivalents for foreign currency is to be calculated at the exchange rate applicable on the day payment is effected.

  1. Contact me directly, either by e-mail at violins@iafrica.co.za, by cel phone at (+27) 83 7788533, or by telephone or fax at (+27 32) 9461457. You can also write to me at P.O. Box 258, Dolphin Coast 4404, South Africa.
  2. Give me as much information as possible about the instrument you wish to sell, it's age, history, condition, repairs, etc.
  3. If in any way possible, provide me with good quality photos of the instruments, the front, back, side views, and the scroll from front and side.
  4. The ideal would be to have the instrument delivered to me personally, and to be kept by myself for an agreed period of time. Not only will this enable me to make a better assessment of it and to photograph it, but it will then be in a better position for potential buyers to look at it and play on it.
  5. Please give any details you might have of the instrument's value, what you think it is worth, any supportive documentation, and what price you expect for it. NOTE THAT YOU ARE NOT TO ADD COMMISSION ON TOP OF THE ESTIMATED VALUE. THE COMMISSION IS TO BE PAID BY THE SELLER. I reserve the right to refuse persuing or concluding a sale should I at any stage feel that a given price is unrealistic, or that it has been inflated in order to recover the commission.
  6. It is understood and accepted by the owner of the instruments offered for sale, that I provide no assurance or guarantee that the instrument will be sold through this website, and hence cannot be held responsible for an instrument not being sold, or for the reimbursement of costs incurred in having the instrument offered for sale by means of this website. Concurrently, potential buyers understand and accept that a seller might at any stage of a deal decide not to proceed with the sale, or to withdraw the instrument from sale, in which case, again, I cannot be held responsible for inconvenience or costs incurred by the buyer changing his mind at any stage of the transaction.
  7. At the fee structure set out below, I will post your instrument on this website for a given period of time, and I receive no further payment. Your contact details will be given along with your instrument - potential buyers contact you directly and you negotiate the deal yourself.
